Many more happy days shooting!

With the summer heading our way it is time to think about booking this winters shooting. Although, with economic woes on our minds it can seem a melancholic process. Don’t fret if you’ve found your thoughts drifting to how you will afford to enjoy top quality shooting this coming season then Bulgaria could be the answer.

In August, whilst others head off for Yorkshire and for Scotland, you can enjoy stalked wild boar shooting or the speed of quail bird shooting. Then later in to the season Bulgaria has partridge, pheasant, wild duck and geese along with deer stalking and boar shooting.

Please have a look at Hobson Hunts where you will see what’s on offer and can request a personal quote for the type of game shooting that you wish to enjoy.

Mountain holidays

I have just been to the Lake District to look at what the area can offer to Hobson Hunts clients. The potential for field sports is great but in that region it rests in the hands of too few individuals and the local authorises, as is the case throughout the UK, have far too much say in matters they no nothing about.
It appears that the UK is not open for country sports businesses!

Wet and muddy

As the UK season draws to a close it was pleasing to reach the end of a long day in the Sussex mud and rain.
Now that there are but a few shooting days left, especially with the 1st February falling on a Sunday in 2009, it’s time for one to begin planning some end of season boar shooting and think on to the quail of August.

Snow brings in the duck

The cold weather has at last come with snows that have pushed the duck and geese south along the Black sea. Now that the wildfowl are on Bulgarian territory the backlog of sporting guns waiting to enjoy quality shooting can begin to be cleared.
The recent dispute over gas prices between the Ukraine and Russia has not affected Hobson Hunts as the country has a large storage facility used to keep homes warm. As our shooting lodges are homes this has met our clients stay warm.

Sussex sun

What a super days beating! One of the shoots that I attend in Sussex was on today and the sunshine attended too. The most amazing thing is that over the many years that I’ve been beating at this shoot it seems always to be sunny. Despite the sun the pheasants flow very well.
One of the beaters had their birthday today. Having been out last night they were next to useless in the beating line!
By lunch time the required bag had been reached so the two afternoon drives allowed the beating team a more relaxed time.
The day done I said cheerio to all and left the birthday beater to their hangover and the joy of working on it further tonight.

The duck and goose shooting is under way in Bulgaria. Hobson Hunts is busy dealing with enquires from sporting guns from continental Europe and the British Isles. If you would like to experience either bird game (woodcock, duck, goose, pheasant) shooting or trophy hunting (for wild boar, mouflon or chamois) just take a look at the Hobson Hunt website: http://www.hobsonhunts.co.uk
